What is Soul Care?

All of our Soul Care Ministers are in agreement with the DeeperHope Institute’s Statement of Faith, and are all in ongoing peer supervision, professional associations, and ongoing individual soul care for themselves. They are vetted by our supervisor, Andrea Bliss-Lerman.

Jess Mason

Jess Mason, M.Div. is a licensed minister in the CCCC and has been a soul care minister since 2004. She is trained in three different schools for spiritual direction, and meets with Christian women ages 21-60 in person at the DeeperHope Institute in Haverhill, MA, as well as over Skype. Jade Carlson

Jade Carlson, holds an M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Talbot School of Theology and has been a spiritual director for numerous individuals and groups since 2008. She meets with men and women of all ages, both in individual and group settings, and resides in Beverly, MA. Jade enjoys creating and cultivating sacred spaces to help others draw near to God and receive His love for them.

Wendy Dixon

Wendy Dixon has been a soul care minister since 2005.  Trained through an intensive, multi-disciplined program for Spiritual Direction at the Campion Renewal Center, she has been meeting with people of all ages and backgrounds, each of whom is seeking to recognize and respond to God in his or her life. Wendy often encourages the use of various art forms (including dance, writing, drawing, and sculpting) as a way to “listen” to oneself and to God. In addition to offering spiritual direction, Wendy has run Christian mime, drama and dance troupes as well as run classes for people wanting to use the movement arts for spiritual formation. Andrea Bliss-Lerman, Supervisor

Andrea Bliss-Lerman has been a spiritual director since 1990 and a spiritual direction trainer and supervisor since 2004. She is the founder of the Evangelical Spiritual Director’s Network, a New England area consortium of spiritual directors who are all in agreement with a statement of faith. She meets with men and women of all ages, individually from her office in Andover, MA, in groups, and has even been known to provide soul care through written letters! She is also a contributor to Presence magazine for spiritual directors. Andrea’s other interests include writing, dancing on the beach, and studying Spanish for missionary/travel!
